Silver for Jonathan Pérez in the World Masters Championship
Málaga is hosting the Master World Championships this week. Athletics arrasatearra is represented in this event by Jonathan Pérez, who has taken part in the pole vault test, reaching a more than worthy silver medal in the Master 35 category.
The victory and the world title have been for the great favorite, the French Stephan Diaz, with a better jump of 4.75 meters. This jumper achieved a few months ago the victory in the European Veterans Championship. As happened then, Jonathan Perez, silver in the European, has occupied the second place with a mark, this time, 4.65 meters. The third place went to the Frenchman Pascal Couturier, with a better jump of 4.55 meters.
Jonathan Pérez has been satisfied with this achievement, but as he himself has acknowledged, “it is increasingly difficult to stay at these levels”. The age (37 years), the work commitments and the care of her young daughter limit the time she can dedicate to the preparation of a technique as technical as the pole. In fact, his mood is to slow down and has already announced that this year he has no plans to compete in the indoor winter season.
